This Golden Girl of Pakistani film industry is full of surprises and overflowing with creative brilliance. As a director and producer she launched her new venture ‘Koi Tujh Sa Kahan?? with a missionary zeal in which she is also the leading lady or in other words she is the Heroine. This project is also a great service on the part of Reema who loves her film industry like a daughter would love her mother. At a time when making a movie is considered as a great risk in financial terms due to the prevailing dire straits in the Pakistan film industry, Reema Khan is one courageous woman who, braving all the risks associated with such a huge gamble, came forward to infuse a new lease of life in the Industry by bringing out a family-oriented box office hit “Koi Tujh Sa Kahan??. It may seem a small step to some, but , to the distressed film makers and all those associated with this half dead trade , it was a giant step by a brave and thoroughly nationalist girl.
The filming of ‘Koi Tujh Sa Kahan?? was done entirely in Malaysia. It also has the distinction of being the only Pakistani film made in 2005 which was shown in 10 cinemas in the UK. It also introduced a new pair to the film industry. An extensive coverage was given to this movie on CNN and BBC .They ran documentaries on the cultures of the sub continent supported by certain clips from the Indian and Pakistani films. “Koi Tujh Sa Kahan?? is a landmark and stands comparable to the films made in the neighboring country. She again achieved a commendable milestone in the field of direction which is also her maiden adventure.
After the tremendous success of her maiden effort Reema turned her attention to yet another venture. This time it was “Kitni Hassin Hai Zindagi??. The film is written by Pervaz Kaleem and Reema directed it. The cameras started rolling in September 2008 and closed down in June 2009.The movie was shot in “Baku?? (Again a first time by any Pakistani film director) and Malaysia. Reema has used highly sophisticated state –of –the –art filming equipment and related instruments for this project. The songs of the movie have been written by Aqeel Ruby and Khawaja Pervaiz while three renowned music directors have been engaged by her for the music of this movie.
The cine-goers in the sub-continent and other parts of the world are attaching high hopes with this movie. This effort on Reema’s part is highly commendable specially when she no support from any quarters including the private and the public sector. She has handled all three components of the movie single handed with great determination and sincerity of purpose .She has tried to paint a soft image of our society, especially when terrorism is rampant in the country. This film is not only a source of entertainment about also delivers a string message that life is precious and beautiful. It is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2010, God Willing.
The Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr.Shokat Aziz also watched the film and praised the standard of this movie which is a great encouragement and a benign pat on the back. Former President Gen.Pervaiz Musharraf’s wife Begum Sehba Musharraf also saw the film in the Army Community Center Rawalpindi in the company of about 300 respectable ladies and praised her work which is taken as a very valuable prize for Reema.
